Understanding Your Claim
INFORMATION AND SUPPORT
Your claim professional will work closely with you to make your experience as simple and stress-free as possible. You’ll also find information in this document that will guide you through the claims process and help you understand what to expect at each step.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
Though you may be tempted to start cleaning up right away, it’s important to document the damage. If you can, take pictures and save things that may show the cause (e.g. a piece of burst pipe, braided hose, sump pump) as we may be able to pursue the at-fault party or manufacturer for recovery of your loss.
You can also fill out the Schedule of Loss form provided by your claim professional and gather any related paperwork like receipts, product manuals, and warranties.
EMERGENCY WORK
If your house has sustained damage, we can refer a preferred contractor to assist you. If emergency services are required, your contractor’s priority will be to stabilize your property and prevent further damage. Before starting any work, the preferred contractor will ask you to sign a document authorizing them to complete the required emergency services in your home.
